Description

The AR (silver) denarius of Septimius Severus, struck between AD 193 and 211, is a standard Roman imperial coin issued during the early Severan dynasty. These coins were minted across several imperial mints, most commonly Rome, and were part of everyday circulation.

Displays a laureate (wreath-wearing) bust of Septimius Severus facing right, accompanied by Latin inscriptions such as SEVERVS PIVS AVG or variations of his imperial titles. 

Features a wide variety of designs, often depicting Roman deities, personifications (Victory, Fortuna, Securitas), or military themes, symbolizing stability, victory, and prosperity under his rule. 

Issued during a time of civil war and consolidation of power, Severus used coinage as propaganda emphasizing military success, divine favor, and imperial authority.
