Mount Vernon was the successor of Hayes & MacFarland which began in 1903. The Mauser Mfg. Company of New York and Roger Williams Silver Company of Providence Rhode Island, were part of the merger to form the Mount Vernon Company Silversmiths in 1914. Gorham acquired Mt. Vernon Company Silversmiths in 1923.
