The first prestigious service produced by the Royal Manufactory after it aquired its 'royal' status, the A La Reine service was issued in 1784, and pieces of it can be found today in the collections of the world's greatest museums, including the Adrien Ducouche National Museum in Limoges. Its floral decoration is characteristic of the latter half of the 18th century, and the studied spontaneity of the bouquets and swathes of flowers was originally designed to conceal any slight imperfections in the porcelain caused by wood firing.
The Tanga and Bikini vases offer a real journey at the heart of the Pacific Islands. The sun, corals, big shells and exotic birds... Marco Mencacci, inspired by the motifs of the traditional Oceanian costumes, relates through his decorations the life and the luxuriant nature of these earthly paradises.
